# Exit Nudge

> Ask leaving buyers why — and win some of them back with a tailored offer.

<Tip>**Plan:** Pro.</Tip>

When a buyer starts checking out and then tries to leave, Exit Nudge shows a short, polite prompt: first it asks **why** they're leaving, then it reacts to their answer — a discount for the price-sensitive, a contact card for the ones with questions, a reassurance for the hesitant.

Open **Checkout settings → Exit Nudge** to set it up.

## How it works for the buyer

<Steps>
  <Step title="The buyer tries to leave">
    Closing or navigating away from the popup triggers the nudge — at most as often as you allow (every time, once per session, or once per day).
  </Step>

  <Step title="One question">
    Your question (e.g. "Why are you leaving?") with the reasons you've enabled. The buyer taps one or skips.
  </Step>

  <Step title="A tailored reaction">
    Based on the reason, the buyer sees the reaction you configured — or nothing, if you chose no reaction for that answer.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Setting it up

<Steps>
  <Step title="Write the question and pick reasons">
    One short question, plus the answer options to show. The catalog covers the common cases: shipping too expensive, price too high, delivery too slow, no convenient pickup point, wanted to pay by card, I have questions, changed my mind, just browsing, other.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose a reaction per reason">
    For each active reason pick what happens next:

    * **Coupon** — offer one of your existing Shopify discounts, with a headline and an optional countdown. Claiming applies it to the cart and returns the buyer to checkout.
    * **Message** — a custom reassurance or explanation.
    * **Confirmation** — a mini recap of their cart to nudge them over the line.
    * **Urgency** — a short "stock is limited" style note.
    * **Contact** — your phone, Viber, or a link, for buyers with questions.
    * **No reaction** — just record the answer.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the frequency and save">
    Every time / once a session / once a day.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Where the results show

The **Home** dashboard gets an **Exit Nudge** card (last 30 days): how many times it was shown, how many orders it recovered, the recovery rate, and the revenue protected — plus a "Why buyers leave" breakdown of the answers. The answers are anonymous; use the breakdown to fix the real leak (shipping cost? delivery speed? payment options?).

<Note>
  Keep the coupon modest and honest. Exit offers train bargain-hunting if they're too aggressive — the survey data is often worth more than the save itself.
