Sending an SMS
1
Open the order's row menu and pick Send SMS
The action appears whenever the buyer’s phone number can receive SMS.
2
Write the message — or pick a template
Six ready-made templates: Cart reminder, Order confirmed, Order shipped, Ready for pickup, Delivered, Thank you. Insert live variables with one click: order number, total, customer name, city, courier, tracking number, tracking link.
3
Check the counter
A live counter shows exactly how many SMS segments your text uses and what it will cost before you send.
4
Send now or later
Send immediately, or delay by 5 minutes up to 1 day (handy for “ready for pickup” nudges). Scheduled messages can be canceled any time before they go out — canceled messages are never charged.
Pricing
- A segment is up to 160 characters (or 153 each when a long text splits into several parts). The composer always shows the segment count before you send.
- You’re charged only for successfully sent messages, as a usage line on your Shopify bill. Failed sends cost nothing.
- SMS charges share the same $500 per 30 days safety ceiling as order overage — Shopify never lets Sendway bill past it.
The SMS History page
Open SMS History in the navigation to see every message: status (scheduled / sent / failed / canceled), recipient, linked order, text, segment count, cost, and source — Manual, Automation, or Shopify Flow. The header shows this billing period’s sent count and total bill. Scheduled-but-unsent messages have a Cancel action.Automating with Shopify Flow
Sendway plugs into Shopify Flow, so you can automate messages instead of sending by hand:- Triggers — Sendway shipment accepted by courier, arrived at office, delivered, overdue, and returned.
- Actions — Send SMS via Sendway and Create shipment via Sendway.
